What's a snowshoe hare to do when its coat turns white, but there's no snow on the ground? | National Geographic

During Fall 2018, we conducted a study to determine how snowshoe hares used highly managed landscapes, specifically those containing a patchwork of small clearcuts within a background of older forest. As part of this work, crews live-trapped hares in these landscapes, fitted them with small GPS collars that obtained a location every 30 minutes, then remotely downloaded the data from the collars via radio. This data revealed how each hare used the landscape. One thing we can say is that they use
