In 1979, an aquarium in Canada, (MarineLand) had an outstanding order for 6 to 8 orcas to be captured in Iceland, in the wild. One of the captured orcas was Keiko, a 2 year old male who was taken from his mother's side to become a performer. From 1996 to 2003, while Keiko was in rehabilitation in Oregon and then taken to Iceland and finally swam to Norway, 28 orcas died in captivity, 8 of them, at Sea World.
