The United States paid Mexico $15 million in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. This payment was part of the agreement that ended the Mexican-American War, with Mexico ceding a large portion of its territory to the U.S. In addition to the $15 million, the U.S. also agreed to assume responsibility for up to $3.25 million in debts owed by Mexico to U.S. citizens. | Red Queendom
