The Ford 5.4L Triton engine became known for spark plug problems after it was released in the late 1990s. Early 2-valve Triton engines (1997–2003) had very short spark plug threads in the aluminum cylinder heads—only about four threads—which sometimes allowed the plugs to loosen and blow out of the head under engine pressure, damaging the threads and requiring costly repairs. #ford
