The main event was for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship as reigning champion Sting put his title on the line against Sid Vicious. On January 21, 1992 WCW Clash of the Champions XVIII took place at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas. In the main event, Ricky Steamboat & Sting took on Rick Rude & Steve Austin (with Paul E.
