The Lady of Elche. This mysterious statue of a woman appears to date to the 3rd of 4th century BC, but not much else is clear. She wears an elaborate necklace and has two large coils as part of her elaborate headdress. Some speculate she could be a priestess, goddess or noblewoman and could be of Greek, Carthaginian or native Iberian origin. It’s also not known what the empty cavity in the back of her head was used for. Currently housed in the National Archeological Musuem of Madrid, Spain. #man
