Christine Elizabeth Clark (born February 1, 1946), better known as Chris Clark, is an American soul, jazz, and blues singer, who recorded for Motown Records. Clark became known to Northern soul fans for hit songs such as 1965's "Do Right Baby Do Right" (by Berry Gordy ) and 1966's "Love's Gone Bad" ( Holland-Dozier-Holland ).

Christine Clark, a Los Angeles native, was born in 1946. She grew up fast, both musically and emotionally, by traveling with jazz players throughout her youth and developing some skill as a blues belter. In California, Motown rep Hal Davis alerted Berry Gordy to the teenager's potential. She flew to Detroit to present her demo tapes.

Chris Clark is one of a small number of White performers who recorded for the Motown imprint during the Sixties. Her records are sought after, and much appreciated by the Northern Soul fan base within the scene. Christine Clark joined Motown Records as a receptionist in 1964.

Born in Santa Cruz, CA on Feb. 1, 1946, Chris Clark, like many Motown artists, is still a teenager when she auditions in 1963 for the company. Motown’s “Mr. West Coast,” Hal Davis, is impressed enough to send her to Detroit for an audition with Berry Gordy.

Chris Clark was an undoubtedly talented singer. She sets a high bar for some of the other Motown singers. Sadly she is mostly forgotten, with only two truley ‘popular’ songs “Love’s Gone Bad” and “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)”.
