U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he will host this year's Kennedy Center Honors ceremony after announcing a lineup of honorees he approved as part of his effort to remake cultural institutions he has deemed too liberal.

Tom Cruise reportedly declined an invitation to receive a Kennedy Center Honor from President Donald Trump. However, the 'Mission: Impossible' star is set to receive an honorary Oscar later this year.

Though Cruise will not be attending, the 48th Kennedy Center Honors has already announced which honorees will receive the lifetime artistic achievement award: Actors Sylvester Stallone and Michael Crawford, country singer George Strait, “I Will Survive” singer Gloria Gaynor and KISS. The ceremony will be hosted by President Trump himself.
