Jack Flaherty struck out nine over six scoreless innings as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-0 and took two of three games in a matchup of two of the MLB's top teams.

The squad totaled just four hits in the latter contest, and second baseman Nico Hoerner got ejected by home plate umpire Derek Thomas for arguing balls and strikes in the top of the fifth inning. Shortstop Dansby Swanson hit a leadoff double with the Cubs down 2-0 to start the frame before Hoerner came up.

Nico Hoerner couldn't believe that expressing himself and saying a few 'non-offensive' words to the umpire would lead to his ejection in Sunday's MLB game. It was a frustrating situation on a disappointing day where they lost 4-0 to the Detroit Tigers.
