Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene was still in Los Angeles Friday night, pending one more meeting with specialists before returning to Cincinnati.

Gleyber Torres homered twice and Riley Greene drove in four runs to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Cincinnati Reds 11-5 on a rainy Friday night.

CINCINNATI -- For the second straight game, Reds pitching allowed 11 runs. Friday night, those 11 runs came from the Detroit Tigers, who beat the Reds 11-5 in the first of a three-game series. It was a close game through 5 1/2 innings, but the Tigers scored eight runs in their final three innings at the plate to break the game open.

The Cincinnati Reds visit the Detroit Tigers Friday to start a 3-game series. First pitch from Comerica Park is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.

The Cincinnati Reds are in the middle of the standings in their division, making them a team with many options available at the deadline.

The Savannah Bananas are playing at Great American Ball Park on Friday night. Fav-favorite Sean Casey got an at-bat and drew a walk in only a way he could. The ball went to the backstop and Casey rounded first pretending he was going to try for second before retreating back to first.

"It's a good check to see where we're at. It's gonna show what areas we need to work on, what areas we excel at," Nick Martinez said.
