NFL Free Agency has officially begun now that the new league year is underway, but as we all know, the vast majority of the action has already taken place.The Washington Commanders were pretty active as most expected them to be.

The Washington Commanders enter free agency with 24 players hitting the market. That does not include the release of defensive tackle Jonathan Allen nor re-signings such as Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz.

The Washington Commanders agreed to a deal with DT Javon Kinlaw and to trade for Texans LT Laremy Tunsil, adding to a busy month.

Marcus Mariota will remain the backup in Washington. Mariota has agreed to re-sign with the Commanders on a one-year contract worth $8 million, according to multiple reports. Mariota, 31, threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 92 yards a touchdown while appearing in three games as Jayden Daniels' backup last season.

The Washington Commanders have 28 unrestricted free agents, as well as one exclusive rights free agent, heading into the start of 2025 free agency and they are in the top-5 when it comes to total cap space.
