California state workers must work at least four days per week in office beginning July 1 under a new executive order from Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The sunset of current hybrid work policies came as a surprise on Monday, but wasn’t entirely unexpected, state workers said.

Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order directing state workers to return to the office four days a week starting July 1. Less than half of the state workforce in California is currently allowed to work remotely three days a week.
