Alabama's new, court-picked map adds a second congressional district where Black voters' preferred candidate is projected to win a majority of the time.

For the first time since the Supreme Court weighed in, on Tuesday, Alabama will vote using its new Congressional map that gives Black voters more power.

“Alabama’s latest congressional map is a continuation of the state’s sordid history of defying court orders intended to protect the rights of Black voters,” Holder said.

The new district map is a remedy to Alabama’s illegal dilution of Black voting power, and may lead to the election of two Black representatives for the first time in the state’s history.
