A one-day celebration replaced what's historically been an all-weekend event in Denver, celebrating the day the last slaves in America learned they were freed.

Mi Chantli Art and Movement Sanctuary is set to host a Juneteenth celebration from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The event will be hosted at Mi Chantli in Boulder (1750 30th St., Unit 22) and will include a free Afro Groove class led by Constance Harris, potluck, and keynote speaker Dr. Reiland Rabaka.

The shrinking financial support coincides with many companies severing ties with LGBTQ celebrations for Pride this year.
