France took part in airdrops that delivered much-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza in the early days of Israel's response to Hamas' attack on October 7, 2023.

Special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee will make a rare trip Friday into the Gaza war zone as humanitarian conditions there worsen. Their visit comes as the U.N. World Food Program reports 1 in 3 people in Gaza are now going days without food.

U.S. President Donald Trump's Mideast envoy on Friday visited a food distribution site in the Gaza Strip operated by an Israeli-backed American contractor whose efforts to deliver food to the hunger-stricken territory have been marred by violence and controversy.

Steve Witkoff went to the Palestinian enclave amid growing pressure on Israel to ease a deepening hunger crisis there. Hamas derided the visit as a “propaganda show.”

The visit, to inspect food-distribution sites and meet with locals, reflects a new sense urgency after cease-fire talks go nowhere.
