Collin Leiby and his dog Bass found Freddy, the golden retriever puppy who went missing over a week ago, in an abandoned coal pit. Freddy's owners, Joe and Pam Palko, did everything they could to find their dog and were ecstatic when Freddy finally returned home.

A hiker had followed his dog off a mountain trail this week when he glanced toward a deep coal pit below and saw a tail move near a pile of rocks.
