The West Bank city of Jenin was the target of an ongoing Israeli "anti-terror" operation that claimed the lives of at least 10 Palestinians and injured as many as 40 others.

At least 10 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 40 injured by Israeli forces during a major operation in the Jenin area in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry says.

At least seven Palestinians were killed and 35 others injured in a massive raid by the Israeli army into Jenin, expected to last a few days.

Palestinian Authority security forces exited the area following a month-long operation of its own against local Palestinian terror groups.

Israel’s military said Thursday it killed two Islamic Jihad militants who were involved in a deadly attack on a bus in the West Bank earlier this month. The Israel Defense Forces said its troops killed the militants in the village of Burqin amid an exchange of fire after the militants had barricaded themselves in a building.

The men were affiliated with a militant group, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which carried out an attack earlier this month, the military said.
