Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin and his wife, Kate, announced the birth of their daughter in an Instagram post Wednesday.

The Edmonton Oilers made some noise last week, signing John Klingberg to a one-year contract. The 32-year-old was limited to just 14 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs a season ago before undergoing a hip resurfacing procedure,

Klingberg had been attempting to resurrect his NHL career after spending more than a year working his way back from injury.

The Oilers are still looking for depth after signing John Klingberg, which makes Ducks defender Brian Dumoulin a trade fit.

John Klingberg has been with the Edmonton Oilers for several practices now, and will be making his official debut with the team next week - on or before February 1st.

The Dallas Stars have recalled forward Matej Blumel from the Texas Stars, the team announced Tuesday. Blumel, a product of Tabor, Czechia, has seen time with both Dallas and Texas this season, collecting one goal in six NHL games and 32 points in 32 AHL games.

In an NHL Trade Talk weekend rumors update, the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks could both lose a player for a game or two as Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers were given hearings by the NHL Player Safety Committee after two crosschecks that occurred late in Saturday night’s game.

Klingberg will either be a brilliant addition for the Oilers or a quick audition that will be forgotten by fall.

Klingberg said he’ll have to readjust to the pace of the league but feels much better now about being able to handle it.

The Capitals as a team lead the NHL with an impressive 31-10-5 record, having earned a point in 10 straight games (7-0-3). Washington will be seeking revenge against the Oilers for taking both games in the season series by a 12-2 goal margin. The two sides wrap up their season series on Feb. 23 in Washington.

Matt Duchene leads the Stars in points (41) while ranking second in goals (17) and assists (24). Robertson leads Dallas in assists (25), ranks second in points (37) and is tied for third in goals (12). Wyatt Johnston is third on the team in points (32) and assists (22).

In the wake of his career-surviving major surgery, it was a hip, hip hooray moment for John Klingberg when he signed his one-year free-agent contract in Edmonton—five years after being in the 2020 playoff bubble with the Dallas Stars when they were two games from winning the Stanley Cup.
