Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, two crucial batters for Team India, have informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical staff of minor ailments that would prohibit them from playing for their local sides, Delhi and Karnataka, in the second round of the Ranji Trophy.

Kohli is struggling with neck pain, an issue he began addressing with an injection on January 8, just a few days after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy concluded in Sydney.

Former England cricket team skipper, Michael Vaughan, has defended Indian cricketer KL Rahul 's performance in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Vaughan emphasized that Rahul struggled after being pushed to No. 3 in the fourth Test in Melbourne. This was because India's captain Rohit Sharma had reclaimed his position as opener.
