SpaceX, billionaire Elon Musk's commercial rocket company, says it's working on a "simplified" plan for its Starship to land astronauts on the moon.

After a three-year pause, Icarus, the pioneering project that tracks wildlife from space, is set to resume operations. On 11 November 2025, a rocket is scheduled to carry a satellite equipped with the Icarus receiver into space—opening a new chapter in the study of animal observation.

The internet provider has bought more 'direct to cell' spectrum licenses from EchoStar and struck a deal with the owner of British Airways.

The update came after US Transportation Secretary and Interim NASA Administrator Sean Duffy commented that SpaceX was not progressing fast enough for the Artemis mission and suggested opening up bidding for the mission to the company's rivals, like Jeff Bezos -backed Blue Origin.

Verizon was eying the EchoStar radio spectrum, which works on the 1695-1710MHz bands for uplink. But SpaceX swooped in, likely to bolster its cellular Starlink tech.
