The Penguins have been going through a rough stretch, to say the least. But Kyle Dubas is taking a bigger-picture view of the whole situation, and it goes back to the expectations outlined in training camp.
An NHL team has blown a three-goal lead in the third period three times this season. It’s been the same team — the Pittsburgh Penguins — on all three occasions, including two games in a row. Additionally, they’ve all come on home ice.
Prior to the Penguins' full team practice, injured forwards Evgeni Malkin, Blake Lizotte, and Filip Hallander all skated together on the main rink at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, Pa. They didn't join the team practice, but it is still a sight for sore eyes and signals that they are at least progressing toward a return.
The Pittsburgh Penguins returned home Tuesday in a matchup against the Edmonton Oilers, amounting to a revenge game for both teams' starting goalies, Stuart Skinner and Tristan Jarry. Four days after the franchises swapped goalies, they faced their former teams, and in Skinner's case, he made his Penguins debut.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are likely not done making moves in the trade market just yet. Pittsburgh recently sent Tristan Jarry to the Edmonton Oilers to acquire fellow goalie Stuart Skinner. The deal, however, also included the Penguins getting defenseman Brett Kulak and a 2029 second-round pick.
According to Frank Seravalli, Fenway Sports Group, the owner of the Penguins, has reached a deal with the Chicago-based Hoffmann family, led by David Hoffmann, to buy the team. FSG has been in control of the Penguins since 2021 when they bought the team from Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl put on a show as the Edmonton Oilers waltzed their way to a 6-4 victory at PPG Paints Arena. Draisaitl finished with four assists, the first one producing the 1,000th point of his career.
