Patterns are simple sequences that repeat over and over again in a certain order. Supporting children’s ability to recognize patterns can improve mathematical skills.
This wouldn’t have happened if the K-12 system had taken a more gradual approach to honing core skills.
A sequence which increases or decreases by the same amount each time is called a linear sequence. Non-linear sequences do not increase by a constant amount. They include quadratic sequences.
