MSD recently improved its spark-plug wire ends to include a different type of crimp process that is far better than the old way but requires a special crimping tool.
MSD's wire stripper tool can also be used to crimp the wires, but we used MSD's Pro-Crimp tool (P/N 35051). Its jaws accommodate both the main and secondary crimp sizes for the terminal.
One used the MSD tool that came with our wire kit while the other used our PerTronix Quick Change Crimp Tool (part number T3001) and Spark Plug Wire Stripping Tool (part number T3004).
Not just generic parts molded in red, MSD’s cap and rotor feature a heavy-duty design with a spark plug wire retainer for their corresponding spark plug wires.
