At least 26 people have been killed in a monster storm sweeping across much of the U.S. People were killed in tornadoes in Missouri and in a Kansas dust storm.

The threat of violent tornadoes in parts of the U.S. proved deadly as well as destructive as whipping winds moved east into the Mississippi Valley and Deep South on Saturday, with at least six people killed and scores of homes decimated.

Dozens of tornadoes are reported from thunderstorms that lit up the radar from Wisconsin to Mississippi in the early hours Saturday.
