WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — Two snowy owls have been found dead within the past week, one in Rhode Island and the other in Massachusetts. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) told 12 News on Monday that they received a report of a dead bird at Napatree Point in Westerly.

A Ware, Massachusetts, resident said she was home and her whole house was shaking for about 10 seconds from what she at first believed was an 18-wheeler coming down Route 9.

Light shaking from the earthquake was felt as far south as Rhode Island, according to the USGS. Monday's earthquake, which originated in Maine but was felt in Rhode Island, is being measured at 3.8 on the magnitude scale, according to the USGS.

An earthquake just off the coast of Maine was felt in Massachusetts and Rhode Island Monday morning. The rumbling was felt shortly after 10:20 AM from central Maine all the way down to Rhode Island.According to the USGS,

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in the area of York Harbor, Maine Monday morning at approximately 10:22, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Residents across Massachusetts reported feeling the ground shake, disrupting the quiet of an otherwise typical start to the week. “Feel rumbling this morning?” the regional National Weather Service office,

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) says there was a 3.9 magnitude earthquake recorded in Maine on Monday. The earthquake happened around 10:22 a.m. off of York Harbor. It was felt as far away as Rhode Island.
