A compromise deal has been reached on budget language critics feared would keep most police records off-limits indefinitely from the public.

A person who intervened during an assault on a police officer has been thanked for their assistance. Torquay Police said on Facebook a patrol officer was attacked by a man outside the town's station on Saturday morning. The team said a member of the public came to help the officer and helped stop the assault before further back-up arrived.

Two people are dead following a police-involved shooting in Miami Saturday morning, according to Miami police. The incident was reported near the area of Northwest 1st Court and 23rd Street. According to police, one person was injured and the two others died at the hospital. Police say that more than one officer discharged their weapons.
