At least nine people, including children and teenagers, were killed in North Texas in storm-related accidents and exposure as a powerful winter storm brought dangerous ice and sleet across the region.

As a winter storm left roads, ponds and homes coated in ice, at least 12 people died across the state — seven of those in North Texas — ranging in age from 6 to 78. Those who have been identified are remembered as beloved brothers, gifted athletes and a longtime doctor.
