The oldest rhinoceros in the United States has died at a Tennessee zoo. Dolly was 56 years old.In a social media post Thursday, Zoo Knoxville said Dolly was euthanized after her mobility declined significantly in recent days despite receiving old-age medical care for some time.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Zoo Knoxville's 56-year-old Dolly the Southern white rhino has died. According to the zoo, she was the oldest rhino in the United States. The South African-born animal had been at the zoo since 1976 and was one of the first white rhinos housed there.

Zoo Knoxville said goodbye to a beloved southern white rhino named Dolly, who was the oldest rhinoceros in the United States at 56 years old.
