There was even a 'horrendous' phone call between Trump and Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen that left officials in Denmark who'd been wondering how seriously to take Trump's rhetoric 'utterly freaked out' as they realised the US has a 'serious, and potentially very dangerous' interest in acquiring Greenland.

Despite Trump’s fervent claims that Greenland’s 55,000 residents desire to join the US, both Denmark and Greenland’s local leaders have firmly rejected the idea of a sale.

Former Danish Minister for Greenland Tom Heim said that allegedly there is an agreement with Britain that if Greenland is sold, then London has a priority right to such a purchase.
